Meet Asali Powers, one of our new permanent subs! Asali has been teaching for the past 11 years. She spent the last three years working for Dekalb County School District’s joint preschool/Pre-K program. She grew up in North Charleston, SC and has a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Spelman College and a master’s degree in public health from Tulane University.
She absolutely loves dancing, hiking, and kayaking and is her happiest when she’s outside soaking up the sunshine.
What are you most excited about this year?
I’m most excited about connecting and learning with students and colleagues.
Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Anywhere where there is an ocean!
Which fictional character would you most like to meet?
Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus. “Take chances, make mistakes, get messy!”
