Last week, The Children’s School (TCS) celebrated the Class of 2024 with a special lunch marking 100 days until their graduation.
These past years at TCS have been more than just a journey of academic growth for the leaders of our Pack; it’s been a transformative experience filled with invaluable lessons in self-advocacy, problem-solving, critical thinking, and more.
As they prepare to begin the next chapter of their academic journey in high school, the Class of 2024 has all of the skills they need thrive and to make a positive impact in their new school communities.

A: All of my teachers. They have shown me how to be my best self.

Q: How has TCS prepared you for high school?
A: TCS has shown me that life does not just stop when you feel down, it keeps going. But you have so many people around you who care about you, that can help you up, and build yourself back up.
Q: What’s your favorite TCS PBL unit and why?
A: I enjoyed the World Peace Game in seventh grade because it let me play a sort of politics game in school.
Q: What advice do you have for next year’s graduates?
A: Nothing is impossible to people who try, so try as hard as you can and you can accomplish anything, especially when you are together.
Q: When you look back on TCS in later years, what will you remember the most?
A: All of the friends I have made, the things I have gone through with them, and all of the great moments I have had with them.

A: The idea that everyone is a family/community, and we all help each other.

A: Make sure you pay attention in every class.

A: To accept others for who they are and to learn how to be yourself.

A: Rafael Nadal because he inspired me to play tennis and I’ve been playing for 8 years

A: My classmates and teachers.

A: Embrace the outdoor time because in high school you aren’t getting recess

A: Being a sports player or being a business owner

A: I learned many life lessons.

A: They have prepared me for the change in homework load, and how whatever school we go to, it’s going to be bigger so be ready.

A: My teacher, Carl, because he has taught me a lot of life lessons, he makes jokes with me, and he’s fun to be around.

A: John Francis because he has helped me learn Spanish the most.

Q: What advice do you have for next year’s graduates?
A: My advice would be to enjoy your last year here. I would also take advantage of the freedom that you get in eighth grade.
Q: What’s the most important thing you learned at TCS?
A: The most important thing I learned at TCS is to express myself and emotions. For example, being able to tell someone when you are dealing with something challenging.
Q: How has TCS prepared you for high school?
A: TCS has prepared me for high school because they gave me an abundance of important social skills.
Q: Who is one person who has inspired you? Why?
A: Wilma, a teacher who used to work here, made a lasting impact on my life because she was so caring, helpful and made my years at TCS amazing.
Q: What do you hope remains the same at TCS?
A: I hope that the outdoor ED stays at TCS forever because it allows students to learn while being in an extremely calm environment. It allows you to be creative and learn new things.

A: I want to be an engineer.

A: I loved kayaking on Sapelo Island.

A: My dad. We have a lot in common, and he has taught me a lot.

A: One thing that I will always remember is all the friends I’ve made along the way and all the great teachers I’ve had.

A: Carl has inspired me to work harder and do better on all my ELA assignments by encouraging me to work harder while making it fun.

A: I hope TCS keeps having good teachers because I’ve never had a bad teacher and liked all the teachers I’ve had.

A: In math our teacher treats it like a high school class, so I think it has prepared me for actual high school classes.

A: Planning ahead and expressing gratitude toward others gives me happiness and hope for a better tomorrow.
Q: What is the most important thing you learned at TCS?
A: I’ve learned to control my emotions and express them in a less aggressive and peaceful way. Putting myself in other people’s situations.
Q: How has TCS prepared you for high school?
A: TCS has taught me how to engage, respect and value others’ thoughts and feelings. TCS gives me enough freedom to prepare me for the responsibility of making my own decisions and thinking for myself.
Q: What’s your favorite TCS PBL unit and why?
A: My favorite PBL unit was the World Peace Game. I liked it because it let me feel like I was older and that my decisions reflected what I could do next.

A: I hope the amount of freedom remains.

Q: What is the most important thing you learned at TCS?
A: The most important thing I have learned at TCS is how to think for myself.
Q: How has TCS prepared you for high school?
A: I feel like I could take on any challenge even if I needed some help. I feel like even if things might be hard, I can use the problem solving skills I have learned and prevail.
Q: What advice do you have for next year’s graduates?
A: Stay on top of your work as much as possible. Use a planner if necessary. Have as much fun as you can, and remember you only live once so take some risks.
Q: When you look back on TCS in later years, what will you remember the most?
A: I will probably remember the camping trips we went on together. Some of my favorite TCS memories were made on camping trips, and I will never forget them.
Q: What do you hope remains the same at TCS?
A: I hope the good nature and spirit of the students at TCS remains. I also hope that younger students look up to the eighth graders and respect them just as I had. By that same token, I hope that the eighth graders set a good example for the younger grades.

A: Knowing that my friends and family are healthy and safe.
