This summer, The Children’s School reached an exciting milestone as 11 Middle Grades students traveled to Costa Rica for the school’s first international service learning trip.
Led by Head of School Elizabeth Miller and Director of Upper School Justin Ryder, the weeklong experience combined environmental conservation, cultural immersion and leadership development. Students partnered with Turtle Trax to support sea turtle conservation, visited a local elementary school, explored Costa Rica’s unique ecosystems, and reflected on ethical leadership and global citizenship throughout the trip.
The experience challenged students to step outside their comfort zones, build independence and develop a deeper appreciation for different cultures while reinforcing TCS’s commitment to hands-on, real-world learning.
