6th Graders Visit 3D Printing Exhibit at MODA

TCS 6th graders took a field trip to MODA (The Museum of Design Atlanta) on Friday, Oct. 23rd, to see the exhibit: “Designers, Makers, Users: 3D Printing the Future.”  From revolutionizing space exploration, to inspiring new architectural forms, to designing custom prosthetics, to printing live human tissue, the fascinating MODA exhibit explores the incredible innovations that 3D printing is bringing about. Another big hit with the students was a 3d “pancake bot” made out of Lego robotics pieces! You’d have to see it to believe it!

The inspiring field trip also served a great introduction to the 3D printing studies that 6th grade students will soon begin in Computer Lab with Tamara. TCS 6th graders will learn how to design their own 3D objects in computer lab, using the powerful 3D design software, Cubify Invent. Students will create their own 3D models, which will be sent to the 3D printers, so the classes can see their creations come to life. Once they have a little more experience working with Cubify Invent, the students will design their own avatars to be printed!
