The Children’s School Board of Trustees announced on Nov. 17 that Elizabeth Miller will be TCS’s next head of school. Elizabeth, currently serving as interim head of school, will transition to head of school on Jan. 1, 2026.
“What excites me most about serving as your next head of school are the people who make TCS exceptional,” said Elizabeth. “Our faculty and staff bring unmatched dedication, creativity, and heart to their work, and the partnership between our educators and leadership team is one of TCS’s greatest strengths. Together, we cultivate a community where children are known, valued, and challenged.”
After a nationwide search with more than 30 highly qualified candidates, Elizabeth was chosen for her deep expertise, commitment to progressive education, and the overwhelmingly positive feedback she received from the community which reflected her strong alignment with the school’s mission and values, especially her understanding of student-centered, progressive education and her ability to elevate the school’s work and reputation.
The board expressed full confidence in Elizabeth’s ability to build on TCS’s strengths while advancing the momentum she has already generated as interim head. Her vision, values, and leadership style position the school for continued growth and and long-term success.
“Throughout this academic year, Elizabeth’s enthusiasm, steady leadership, and deep care for children and educators have strengthened our community,” said TCS Board Chair Sarah Scalia. “We are confident that Elizabeth is the right leader to build on the strength of our school while accelerating the momentum she has already generated as interim head of school.”
Search committee co-chairs Fabienne Lauture and Sarah Scalia also expressed their deep appreciation to the students, families, faculty, and staff who participated in the search process.
“This was a community effort, and my search committee co-chair, Fabienne Lauture, and I are grateful to the students, faculty, staff, and families who engaged meaningfully throughout the search,” said Sarah. “Your insight and feedback played a vital role in helping us find a leader who truly understands and values what makes TCS special.”
Opportunities to connect with Elizabeth will be shared in upcoming editions of “Happenings” as she transitions into her new role.
