New Face Around Our Space: Grier Kellett

Grier has been a teacher for twenty years in a variety of educational settings and remains committed to empowering students by strengthening their reading and writing skills. She says, “There’s no one else I’d rather spend my days with than middle school students. True story.”

Grier and her husband, Travis, and have two children: Jesse and Pauline. She loves to read, and prefers news articles and opinion pieces with some light dystopian fiction for fun.

What are you most excited about this year?
I am most excited to get to know the middle school students and the Middle Grades program. Hopefully, I can offer some new ideas to strengthen literacy skills. I am looking forward to a positive collaboration within the school to make this happen. TCS is a great place to be!

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Last year, my family and I did an RV trip out West, and I have to say that northern Arizona is quite fresh and beautiful. I could visit there each year. Such a big sky and crisp air.

Which fictional character would you most like to meet?
I would most like to meet Owen Meany, but then I would just cry the whole time because if you’ve ever read “A Prayer for Owen Meany,” you know what I mean. A miraculous (and imperfectly perfect) character, Owen will break your heart and have you begging for more.
