New Face Around Our Space: Erin Joyner

About Erin

Greetings! I’m Erin. I’m thrilled to join The Children’s School community as the Middle Grades Counselor. I am an Atlanta-area native and returned to the city three years ago after living in Phoenix and Washington D.C. for six years. My career in education started in the classroom, but my true vocation is in advocating for students’ well-being as a counselor. I have a wide range of interests, including health and fitness, social justice, art, and music. Any conversation about these topics could keep me interested forever.

What are you most excited about this year?
I thrive off relationships with others. I am excited to build and develop connections within the TCS community, including faculty, students, and families!

When you’re not at school, where can we find you?
Look for me at a volunteer event to register voters, at a community forum, at a new restaurant’s opening weekend, strolling the exhibits of Atlanta’s museums, watching sports, kickboxing, or curled up with a book and headphones.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
Any big city with great food and great culture, and especially where I can speak Spanish! My most recent favorites are New Orleans and Madrid.

Which fictional character would you most like to meet?
I am often told that I have a Leslie Knope quality about me. Anyone who stands up for what she believes in is a hero in my book!
