Building Character & Community at TCS

By D’uana Revere, TCS School Counselor

I can’t believe the new school year is here! They say time flies when you’re having fun, and I’ve definitely been having fun seeing and getting to know you and your children.

Once a month, I visit each classroom to discuss the Building Character and Community (BCC), TCS’s character education program, theme for the month. During these classroom visits, the children and I read books, play games, create artwork, and have class discussions that all relate back to the monthly themes. Click here to check out the themes for each month.

I also collaborate with with our Extended Day program to develop monthly programs highlighting the BCC theme for the month.

In the followings weeks, the BCC PowerSchool Learning page will be up and running.  There you will find information about the monthly BCC themes and the topics discussed with the students in class.

You should find the BCC class listed as one of your classes in PowerSchool Learning, or you can click here to take you to the page. On the page, you will find suggestions for reinforcing the themes at home, see photos of BCC lessons in action, and learn about books and resources you can use with your children at home.

Visit the page often to keep up with these valuable discussions!
