Meet Madeline Penn, The Children’s School’s new fifth grade lead teacher!
Madeline brings more than 12 years of educational experience, along with a deep love for fostering curiosity, creativity, and connection in the classroom. A double major in English and theater studies from Emory University, Madeline began her teaching career at the Georgia Shakespeare Festival and Cliff Valley School, where she taught middle school social studies. Most recently, she worked at the University of Texas at Austin, supporting undergraduates and their professors.
Madeline is a National Geographic Explorer and early career grant recipient, creating a short film and curriculum in Ghana with the nonprofit Children Inspiring Hope. Her students describe her as engaging, empathetic, and endlessly encouraging, and a teacher who builds strong relationships and helps young learners find their voice.
Outside of school, Madeline enjoys cooking, singing, dancing, biking, and gardening. She lives in Atlanta with her husband (a former educator), their spirited almost-two-year-old daughter, and a small menagerie that includes a dog and two bunnies.
Please join us in giving Madeline a warm TCS welcome!
