New Face Around Our Space: Shannon Byrd-Crossley

Meet Shannon Byrd-Crossley, a new first-grade associate teacher. Shannon, a native Atlantan, is super excited to rejoin the TCS family! She worked in Extended Day and with the TCS Players and is elated to be back teaching 1st grade. Shannon graduated from Dillard University and teaches West African dance and theatre. She especially enjoys helping students reach their highest potential by aiding them with educational interventions in math and ELA.

What are you most excited about this year?
I’ve always come into a class and taught dance and then moved to another room to teach theatre. This past year, I was an interventionist and I would come in, teach a quick lesson to a couple of students and leave. This year, I am really excited about being attached to one class!

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
I don’t really have a favorite vacation spot because usually I am working over the summer. This year, though, my family is heading to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for vacation, and I have a feeling that this will be my favorite vacation spot.

Who would you most like to meet?
I really enjoyed the novel “Children of Blood and Bone,” and I’d like to meet the main character, warrior woman, Zélie Adebola.
