The Children’s School’s eighth-grade students are leading the charge on all things Spirit Shop, allowing them to gain hands-on experience in operating a business and participate in a tradition unique to their class.
The TCS Spirit Shop was created in 2015. Since then, the shop has been filled with all sorts of apparel, knick-knacks, and fun items to show school spirit. TCS eighth graders have challenged themselves to not only assess the current state of the shop (such as performing a SWOT analysis) but also propose exciting ideas (like new premium items) to help boost school spirit among fellow students and the greater TCS community.
As students are learning to lead this new business venture, they are developing a strong entrepreneurial mindset and gaining real-world skills in product design, leadership, finance, organizational management, merchandising, and much more — an invaluable opportunity they’ll continue to learn from in high school and beyond.
