Meet X’ene Taylor, The Children’s School’s new music specialist!
X’ene is a music educator, classical pianist, composer, singer, and cultural worker who has been teaching music to students for the past 10 years. She believes that every student is an innately gifted musician, bringing their own valuable insight and unique artistic perspective to the classroom.
A proud graduate of Houston’s High School of Performing and Visual Arts and the University of Texas at Austin (with degrees in piano performance and musicology), X’ene brings a wealth of talent and experience to TCS. Before joining us, she served as co-composer of a new opera and music director for “Nina Simone: Four Women.”
X’ene’s love of music is matched by her passion for exploration. She’s found inspiration and joy from places like the American South, Brazil, Ghana and Germany. She loves meeting new people, experiencing new places and learning more about the planet we are so lucky to inhabit.
Outside of school, X’ene enjoys traveling, dancing, singing, making music, and spending time with her beloved French bulldog, Sage.
We can’t wait for our students to experience X’ene’s energy, expertise, and joy for music this school year!
