OUR PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Children’s School is a vibrant, collaborative community of learners where inventive play, strong academics, character education and creativity intertwine to develop children who are thinkers, creators, doers, advocates, artists and leaders.

Our approach is hands-on, minds-on and all heart, and fosters a sense of playful inquisitiveness that inspires children to connect with each other and their community, think logically and critically, develop compassion and a sense of advocacy, and, above all, to love learning.

Throughout the school you will see evidence of our Building Character and Community program, referred to as B.C.C. We embed four key mindsets into everything we do: caring and respect for self, caring and respect for others, caring and respect for our space and materials, and caring and respect for the environment. These values, which are visible in every space, every classroom, and throughout lessons and projects, include a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion, social justice, sustainability, and environmental advocacy. Children learn how to resolve conflicts peacefully, regulate their emotions, speak with a clear, confident voice, and give of themselves as a valued and contributing member of their community.

Along their TCS journey through immersive project based learning, robust academics, the arts, technology and exciting enrichment and afterschool opportunities, our students become compassionate, community-minded global citizens who are strong, adaptive learners. Our graduates are confident, skilled young people who value diversity in its many forms and are equipped with the skills to make a difference in the world.

LEARNING IN ACTION

At TCS, we use immersive project-based learning to embed big ideas, skills and academic subjects within an integrated, problem-based approach. When used together, it allows for a complete and nuanced understanding of the project and problems students are investigating.
