Earlier today, TCS Atlanta fifth graders held their Fifth Grade Expo: Civil War to Civil Rights. Attendees sampled food from stations, learned about life during the civil war, and much more! One of the highlights of the expo was the show “Voices of Protest.”
The expo is part of their project-based learning (PBL) unit on the U.S. civil war. Students studied one of four topics in depth during the unit:
1) Voices of Protest
2) Food including history, politics, and sampling
3) Monuments including history, meaning, and reframing
4) Women’s Movements: from suffrage to civil rights
