New Face Around Our Space: Cary Alfaro

Meet 3’s/4’s associate teacher Cary! Cary arrived in Georgia from Miami, FL to live here for only a few years. Before that, she was working as a substitute teacher for around seven years while taking teaching certification courses. Upon her Georgia arrival, she started working on The Galloway School soon and then began substitute teaching at TCS. From the very beginning, Cary was “impressed by TCS’s warm, welcoming staff and their well-taught, playful children. I had finally found a place where I could feel at home.”

What are you most excited about this year?
I am most excited this year about assisting with the care of the 3-year-old kids. I want to give them my utmost support to help them with the transition from home to school. My goal is to make them feel relaxed and loved. A most challenging task this year, especially because of the continued presence of the pandemic.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
The Florida Keys is my favorite vacation spot, as well as all the beaches along the East and West coast of Florida state.

Who would you most like to meet?
I would most like to meet Jose Marti. He is considered our Cuban national hero. But he was also a great philosopher, poet, and writer. I would love to introduce our TCS upper and lower school kids to his great masterwork for children: The Golden Age. Though written in 1889, it’s far better known and read nowadays.
