New Face Around Our Space: Jackie Peterson

Jackie and her husband, Ben, at one of the natural bridges in Aruba.

Jackie isn’t an entirely new face: she was a substitute teacher last school year and a lead Discovery teacher during the 2015-16 school year. This year, she’ll join Theresa in second grade.

About Jackie
I’m an avid traveller and enjoy exploring new places. I love to cook and test new recipes. When I’m not cooking or traveling, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Ben, and our two dogs, Bella and Murphy.

What are you most excited about this year?
There are so many things that I’m excited about this year! I think I am most excited to instill a love of learning and a sense of community in my students. I am also excited to learn from my colleagues and grow as a person.

When you’re not at school, where can we find you?
When I’m not at school, you can find me in my backyard playing Frisbee with my husband and two pups or in my kitchen creating new and delicious recipes.

Where is your favorite vacation spot?
I love to travel, but my favorite vacation spot is definitely Aruba. There is so much to see and do there. You can relax with a good book on the beach, eat delicious local seafood, and drive ATV’s through Arikok National Park.

Which fictional character would you most like to meet?
I would most like to meet Nancy Drew. She’s smart, resourceful, independent and not afraid of a challenge.
