TCS Construction Corner

We are so excited about the TCS construction project: a new classroom building (to be built where the organic garden beds are now) and renovations to J-Building! We anticipate the new spaces will be ready for students by the end of July 2018.

In an effort to keep TCS families and community members up to date on this project, we’ve created this space where we’ll post construction news, project updates, and progress reports.

Questions or Concerns?
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sarah Robinson, director of communications, at 404-835-4611 or sarahr@tcsatl.org.

Announcements
March 22:
Work to tie the new building to utilities will begin tomorrow, March 23, and last all through the next week (March 26 – 30).

The sidewalk and street in front of the building will be impacted which means walking will be tough and there will be no parking in front of the new building. Carpool will also be affected so we will run an extended morning carpool (8:00 – 8:45 a.m.) Children will not be marked tardy until 8:45 a.m.

Thank you so much for your patience as we complete this really important step in the construction project!

Jan. 25: Unfortunately, it took longer than expected to receive a permit from the city so the storm-drainage work will continue into the week of Jan. 29. As always, thank you for your patience.

Jan. 17: The sidewalk in front of the worksite will be closed for some stormwater drainage work. The work will likely last a week, and we are hoping to do the work from Jan. 22 – 27. Thank you again for your patience!

Dec. 26, 8:40 p.m.: Crews have repaired the water main and turned on the water. Thank you to everyone for your patience, and, again, we are so sorry for the inconvenience.

Dec. 26: Earlier today, construction crews working on the #TCSAtlanta new building, removed a piece of concrete from the ground that was supporting an elbow on the water main.

While the crew was trying to replace the concrete the elbow broke open from the pressure. Unfortunately, the city of Atlanta does not have a valve between the main water line and the school, so they had to turn off water to the neighborhood.

The water department is working right now to restore water and hopes to have it turned on later tonight. We’ll post details to Construction Corner as we get them.

We know this is an incredible inconvenience, especially during the holiday season, and we are extremely sorry for the inconvenience this is causing.

Dec. 14: Construction crews will work 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sat., Dec. 17, Sat. Dec. 24 and Sat. Dec. 31. Sorry for any inconvenience!
